Hagley Museum and Library is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and interpreting the unfolding history of American enterprise. Hagley Museum is the site of the gunpowder works founded by E. I. du Pont in 1802 along the banks of the Brandywine River. The 235-acre site includes restored mills, a workers’ hill, and the ancestral home and gardens of the du Pont family. Visit for two hours or a full day: watch demonstrations in the machine shop, interact with interpreters, browse through exhibits, stroll through the formal French garden, or enjoy a meal or snack at the Belin House restaurant. Explore the riverside landscape that was once roaring with industry.
